New York Giants: 7-Round 2018 mock draft pre-Combine
Speaking of depth and an additional weapon, Chris Warren becomes the third young running back in a stable of running back for the Giants. Warren can bring something lacking in the Giants backfield at the moment, a power back.
In his final assessment, Lance Zierlein of NFL.com wrote:
"Warren is a better downhill runner than off-set back and may still get an opportunity as a running back if he can slim down and speed up."
His power lends him to be a short yardage back in the NFL, but he also has abilities that many NFL short yard backs don’t possess. Because of his ability to block and catch passes, he’s not just a running threat. So, the Giants would be able to use him in a fullback/H-back type role where he could sneak out of the backfield as a pass catching option in short yardage plays.

All of these abilities make him a viable 3rd string running back for the Giants, giving them depth to the running back stable. If he could lose weight and add some speed, he could even be a nice 2B option to have. If he’s available late, which he probably will be, he’s worth taking a flyer on for the Giants.
