Chicago Bears: 7-Round 2018 mock draft pre-Combine
With their sixth round selection, the Chicago Bears swing for the fences at a position of need by taking cornerback Michael Joseph. Joseph shows great length, coverage ability, ball skills and always seems to lock down opposing receivers on tape. He has fantastic overall size, elite athleticism and creates a ton of turnovers from a position of need for the Bears. There is a ton to like about Joseph as a specific prospect for the Bears.
However, coming from the University of Dubuque, a little-known Division III school in Iowa, there are obvious issues about his tape. Joseph absolutely dominated in college, but how much can we really take from that? Compared to other prospects in this class, Joseph was playing against a ridiculously low-level of competition. His jump from Division III to the NFL will be massive and we have no way to predict how he will handle it.
That being said, taking a shot on his obvious skill set and upside in the sixth round would not be a terrible idea for the cornerback-needy Bears.
Ade Aruna shows elite size and length on the edge. He is extremely strong at the point of attack and has an impressive first step. His athletic upside is awfully impressive on the edge and he has the makings of an elite pass rusher down the line and guy who can consistently set the edge against the run.
That being said, Aruna is about as raw as they come. He is a former basketball player who has only been playing football since his senior year of high school. His athleticism shines through with consistency, but Aruna has many development years still ahead of him.

He could certainly turn into a big-time edge rusher down the line, but it is going to take some serious coaching. By only giving up a measly seventh-round selection, it is worth seeing what Aruna can become for the Chicago Bears.
