1. More draft picks

What Dave Gettleman needs is David Copperfield to come and make the Giants cap problems disappear. Then, he can sign free agents and work some magic of his own in the draft. Unfortunately, Copperfield isn’t capable of that, so Gettleman will have to use his brain.

The Giants should trade down from the No. 2 pick. They should not only try to acquire draft picks for 2018, but 2019 as well. Go for the gusto. They can include players and their No. 2 pick if they want to be creative, but the Giants need picks.

If a foundation is built through the draft, a team needs as many picks as they can muster. A team can help their chances and mitigate the pain of missing on a draft pick. The Eagles just won the Super Bowl, and their roster contained players that were drafted by them five seasons prior to winning the Super Bowl.

The Giants are far from win now mode, and they shouldn’t even be thinking that way. It’s going to be a process. Remember that the Eagles didn’t draft Carson Wentz until 2016, and they signed Nick Foles in last year’s free agency period. It shouldn’t be a rush to find a franchise quarterback. Build the team the right way and Super Bowls will follow.
