NFL Free Agency 2018: One move each team should make
Dallas Cowboys: Sign DT Bennie Logan
As a whole, the Dallas Cowboys have a lot of talent across their defensive line. Guys like Demarcus Lawrence, Maliek Collins, David Irving and Taco Charlton have bright futures ahead of them as pass rushers at their respective positions. That being said, the Cowboys severely lack players who can defend the run up front.
Ideally, Dallas would be able to find at least on defensive tackle who can stop the run this offseason. If they can find the right guy, their defense could quickly go to the next level. Searching through NFL free agency, Bennie Logan stands out as a natural fit.
Through the first four years of his career, Logan was a full-time starter and effective run defender for the Philadelphia Eagles. Last offseason, he signed a one-year free agent contract with the Kansas City Chiefs and was dominant against the run from the nose tackle position.
Logan’s value to his teams rarely show up on the stat sheet, but his ability to anchor at the point of attack is impressive. He is a fantastic two-gap defender who prides himself on keeping his linebackers clean, allowing them to range the field and make plays against the run. Logan is an elite space eater who also shows a quick first step and some backfield penetration at times.
Overall, Logan would be an ideal fit for the Cowboys as their one-tech defensive tackle. He would be their primary run defending defensive linemen, allowing his pass rushing teammates to primarily do what they do best.
