Indianapolis Colts: Sign RB Isaiah Crowell

The Indianapolis Colts also have a ton of cap space to work with this offseason, but they have more needs on the roster than the Texans. Expect the Colts to be aggressive in free agency, signing players who can have an impact on both sides of the ball.

There were many free agent targets who I considered for the Colts here, but I ended up pairing them with former Cleveland Browns running back Isaiah Crowell. The Colts must surround Andrew Luck with more talent this offseason, giving him a chance to stay healthy and play at an elite level. Adding Crowell to the mix would certainly help Luck going forward.

Crowell has a balanced skill set, showing impressive quickness and speed through the hole and power at the point of attack. He is a patient runner who shows the ability to find open space as a runner and he also catches the ball well out of the backfield.

Crowell had a career year with the Browns in 2016, piling up 1,271 total yards and seven touchdowns on 238 touches. He took a bit of a step back last season (1,035 total yards and two touchdowns on 234 touches), but he still showed playmaking ability with the ball in his hands.

Crowell’s balanced skill set would fit well as a compliment to Marlon Mack in the Colts’ backfield. Indianapolis could mix and match the two talented backs based on matchups and situations, giving Luck a productive running game a pair of explosive playmakers out of the backfield.
