NFL Free Agency 2018: One move each team should make
Seattle Seahawks: Sign RB Jerick McKinnon
The Seattle Seahawks struggled to run the ball with any sort of consistency last season. Their offensive line issues certainly didn’t help, but their lack of impact talent at running back stood out week in and week out.
Seventh round rookie Chris Carson began last season as the Seahawks starting running back and played pretty well early on. However, an early season ankle injury forced him to miss most of the year and the Seahawks could not get anything significant out of their running game for the rest of the season.
J.D. McKissic showed some promise as a pass catching back and C.J. Prosise still has some upside in a third-down role but the Seahawks undoubtedly need help at the position. There are many interesting backs in NFL free agency who Seattle could target, but Jerick McKinnon stands out as an obvious fit.
McKinnon is a quick and elusive back who is a true playmaker with the ball in his hands. His ability to make defenders miss is impressive, as is his big-play speed. He is a true three down back who has shown the ability to make an impact as a runner and a receiver during his time with the Minnesota Vikings.
Adding McKinnon to the mix would give the Seahawks a true lead back to build their rushing attack around. He would have a ton of upside with a full load of carriers available in Seattle.
