NFL Free Agency 2018: One move each team should make
Tennessee Titans: Sign OL Justin Pugh
Justin Pugh has been one of the lone bright spots on the New York Giants offensive line in recent years. He is a strong and physical offensive lineman who played well at both tackle and guard during his NFL career. Pugh now enters NFL free agency as an interesting target for all teams looking for offensive linemen.
The Tennessee Titans have a strong offensive line that opened up holes for one of the most powerful rushing attacks in the NFL last season. They were strong across their front five last season, but with Josh Kline hitting the open market, they could quickly have a massive hole at the right guard position. The Titans could simply look to bring Kline back into the fold, they have the cap space to make it happen, but I think Pugh is a better fit for this team.
His power run blocking ability is a perfect fit for their offense. Pugh explodes off the line of scrimmage and makes impressive impact at the point of attack. The Titans run a power-based rushing offense which Pugh would fit to a tee. Kline played well in Tennessee, but he is more of a finesse offensive lineman who fits better in a zone blocking scheme. On top of that, Pugh’s ability to play offensive tackle would come in handy if Taylor Lewan or Jack Conklin were to suffer an injury.
