NFL Free Agency 2018: One move each team should make
Buffalo Bills: Sign WR Marqise Lee
The Buffalo Bills are in an interesting position as we enter NFL free agency. They have obvious needs in their defensive front seven and seem to have no interest in Tyrod Taylor as their long-term franchise quarterback. I could certainly see them in the free agent quarterback market, but the draft seems more likely. They will likely sign a linebacker and/or a defensive lineman, but none of them really stood out as a specific fit. So instead, I have the Bills attacking their need at wide receiver.
In Kelvin Benjamin and Zay Jones, the Bills have some ability at the wide receiver position. However, they lack both a true No. 1 and legitimate depth at the position. In particular, the Bills could use a receiver who has a speed element to his game.
Richardson would also be a strong fit for Buffalo, but we are going to focus on Marqise Lee for the Bills. If the Jacksonville Jaguars make Allen Robinson a free agent priority, there may not be enough room to fit Lee back into the mix. He would then hit the open market as one of the most interesting wide receivers available.
Lee is a quick and decisive route runner who shows fantastic ability in the short to intermediate range. He runs crisp routes and changes directions extremely quickly which allows him to consistently create separation against opposing defensive backs.
Simply put, the Bills need depth at wide receiver and could particularly use a speed guy. Lee fits their needs well and would be a nice reliable playmaker for the team in the passing attack.
