In Greg Storman’s case, the size and speed of his opponent doesn’t matter. At Virginia Tech, he’s shown that he can handle covering the big, small, and/or fast receivers. There’s only one hole in his game, and that’s one-on-one tackling, especially against running backs. He size will lend him to be run over.

That said, despite his size, he’s incredible as a cover man. He can handle press coverage duties, and he’s got amazing ball skills. He had nine interceptions, 26 pass breakups, and a defensive touchdown in his four years at Virginia Tech.

He also can help a desperate Jets special teams who could use a return man or two. This is the third pick of the draft that the Jets will use the improve their special teams, because they absolutely need help in that area. He’s experience on kickoffs was limited mostly to 22 returns in 2016 with only one other in 2014. As a punt returner, he had 127 returns for an average of 8.1 yards and four touchdowns.

The Jets have now solidified their special teams with this pick. He will be a force on both defense and special teams giving the Jets the ball back a lot, and then giving them good field position to boot.
