Chicago Bears: Observations as the new league year approaches
With the new NFL season less than a week away, teams scramble to re-work their rosters. Here are some observations as the Chicago Bears do the same.
The 2018 NFL year is quickly approaching. It begins at 4:00 p.m. ET on March 14, less than a week from now. Teams, among them the Chicago Bears, scramble to try to rework their rosters. The Bears have some work to do to assemble a competitive team. They currently have only 46 players on the roster. A few others may also be cut as the new year begins so they have quite a few holes to fill.
The Bears are in good shape this offseason. At just over $63 million in cap space, the Bears have the sixth highest available money. That goes up when they announce an increase of about $7-11 million and other cuts, like Mike Glennon (gives the Bears $11 million more).
Additionally, the Bears have the 8th pick of the draft. They’re in good position to make deals should quarterback-hungry teams want to deal. If the Bears deal to move down, they add more draft picks.
