Round 6: Allen Lazard, WR, Iowa State

Allen Lazard is another big target for Bortles and the offense. Lazard is six foot five inches tall weighing 227 pounds. He could either play wide receiver or tight end.

At Iowa State, Lazard caught 241 passes for 3,360 yards with 26 touchdowns. He averaged 13.9 yards per catch. He is able to move the chains. His physical presence really makes him a goal line weapon.

Zierlein gives his overview of Lazard at NFL.com:

"Lazard has been a productive, four-year player who relies on his size and strength to muscle Big 12 cornerbacks around when making the contested catch. Lazard is a possession receiver, but his lack of play speed and athletic ability could make separating from NFL cornerbacks a difficult challenge. With his size and toughness, a switch to pass-catching tight end might give him a better shot at having a productive NFL career."

Lazard is a bargain here in the sixth round. Most teams would not be able to utilize him like Jacksonville would be able. To see Robinson, Andrews, Lewis and Lazard line up in a tight formation, opposing defensive coordinators would not be able to defend either in single coverage.

Lazard enables the Jaguars to keep drives alive. His impact on the offense will be in certain packages like a jumbo receiver set, as mentioned above.
