Los Angeles Chargers: 5 Big-name targets in 2018 NFL Free Agency
By Derek Snyder
4. Josh Sitton
At some point, the Chargers front-office is going to have to invest money in their offensive line. It’s one thing to build through the draft, but it’s another to bring in veteran lineman who know what it takes to get the job done. As you’ve probably guessed already, I believe Los Angeles needs to go after Josh Sitton, formerly of the Chicago Bears.
With Matt Slauson, most likely, heading somewhere other than Los Angeles in 2018, the Bolts have to decide who they’ll bring in as his replacement. With the Bears already declining to re-sign Sitton for another season, he’ll clearly be one of the more experienced and talented guards available.
If anyone out there has questions about Sitton’s ability to perform well into his 30’s, take a look at this quote from the offensive lineman in Brad Biggs’ article in the Chicago Tribune:
"“I am planning on playing and hitting free agency and continuing to play at a high level,” Sitton said. “I believe I have prime years left.”"
I would expect to hear nothing less from a veteran looking to find another place in the NFL; however, I do believe he would be a nice fit with the Chargers. If Los Angeles wants to keep playing power football, they have to invest in their offensive line now.
