New York Jets: 3 Defensive players to consider in 2018 NFL Free Agency
2. Nigel Bradham
The 28-year old outside linebacker called the defensive signals for the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles last season and is known as a solid three-down linebacker. The Florida State product owns excellent lateral speed from sideline to sideline. He’s also effective in helping stop the run as well.
If the Jets are not able to bring back Demario Davis then Bradham would be an outstanding fit for head coach Todd Bowles. The 6-2, 241-pounder led the Eagles with 88 total tackles in 2017, including a team-high 61 of the solo variety. He added eight passes defensed, a sack, a forced fumble and a 37-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown against the Dallas Cowboys. All in all, the Crawfordville, FL native ranked 21st among all outside linebackers via Pro Football Focus with an 80.6 grade per 247sports.com.
Bradham brings something to Gang Green that they usually are lacking in: speed. He’s also a very intelligent player who gained the confidence of head coach Doug Pederson by calling the defensive plays for one of the elite defenses in the NFL. There is no guarantee that Davis is coming back next season. Bradham would be a superb addition to an up-and-coming defensive unit. He’s still in his prime years and is very durable, having missed just one start over the last two years.
