The New York Giants desperately need help on their offensive line, but they may be able to wait until No. 34 overall to land Isaiah Wynn.

The offensive line is the most important unit in the NFL. Without a good one, your running game and passing game can’t be as successful as you want it to be. The New York Giants learned that the hard way in 2017.

Some people are projecting the Giants to take Penn State running back Saquon Barkley with their No. 2 overall pick, and others think it should be Notre Dame guard Quenton Nelson, if it’s not a quarterback. However, if they go with Barkley, it could be a sign that they want to take an offensive lineman in the second round. Isaiah Wynn could be that guy.

Wynn is a strong, short, and stout lineman. One major thing makes him valuable to a team, his versatility. Despite his height (6-3), which is not the desired height to play tackle in the NFL, he can play all the positions on the offensive line.

HIs awareness is high and will take on the moves of all defenders (including stunts and twists). He has a solid base and is good with hand fighting. If they move him to guard, he has tackle athleticism at guard, which boosts the line.

Wynn is not the once in a lifetime talent that Nelson is, but that’s ok. He can provide solid protection (both inside and outside) that the Giants need for a long time.

The Giants offensive line were made even more glaring by the great play of the Cowboys and Eagles in the last two seasons. New York needs a good offensive line to establish the run, especially in East Rutherford, NJ late in the season.

Wynn would provide them with that, and allow them to move Erick Flowers to right tackle, where he’d fit better. The Giants need to address this issue, and adding Wynn will do that immediately.
