Jacksonville Jaguars: 3 Free agents worth adding to offense
By Larry Brake
The Jacksonville Jaguars enter the free agency period looking to bolster the offense. Here are three unrestricted free agents who could help.
March 14th is the first day that teams are able to sign free agents. The Jacksonville Jaguars have $35 million in salary cap space according to overthecap.com. Currently, team negotiations with Allen Robinson appear to be at a standstill.
Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk reports:
"You look on the free agency market,…. You just have to set a price for us that we feel like as a team we can handle and hopefully [Robinson and his agent] feel like the same thing and we can get a deal done. At some point in time, just like other free agents, we’ve walked away…. We’ll see. We have a lot of options on the table with that.”"
There are receivers that the Jaguars could sign if Robinson opts to go elsewhere. Since Marqise Lee is available, Jacksonville might re-sign him at a cheaper price tag. Because of the uncertainty of Robinson’s future, it is highly possible that Allen Hurns is back instead of being a salary cap casualty cut.
Currently, there are five receivers on the Jaguars roster with game experience in 2017. Hurns and Lee played well but battled injuries throughout the season. Dede Westbrook played after missing the first ten games due to injury. Keelan Cole emerged as a good young receiver. Jaydon Mickens provided a spark as a punt returner.
