The New York Giants are limited in free agency due to their cap number. General manager Dave Gettleman will need magic to make this offseason work.

The New York Giants will likely have to build their foundation moving forward with the 2018 NFL Draft. The Giants need some magic to get out of the situation they are in with their cap if they want to sign any free agents, even their own.

It’s a sticky situation they find themselves in, and maybe it’ll take some convincing of a certain quarterback to take a pay cut, accept a trade, or even restructure his contract. Other than that, they will have to sever ties with wide receiver Brandon Marshall, and even that won’t get them a lot more cap space to work with.

An outright cut of Eli Manning might be their best option for saving money, and that’s unfortunate for the two-time Super Bowl champion and MVP. This is a cruel league, and sometimes even those who do a lot for an organization end up with the bad end of the stick.
