The Dallas Cowboys don’t place a huge emphasis on the one-technique position, so here is a look at five potential targets who should be there after Round 1

The Dallas Cowboys recently signed defensive tackle Brian Price to a two-year deal. The move was a good one as Price proved to be a decent fit in their scheme during his brief appearance in 2017, which ended thanks to a knee injury.

Without Price, they had to slide Maliek Collins over from the three-technique to the one, which Price was playing. Collins wasn’t as good in this role as he was playing the three, and the defense as a whole suffered some.

This isn’t to say Price is the ideal player for Dallas to plug in at the one and say things are golden. Instead, what Price offers is a decent player who can rotate in and out of the game on early downs. What Dallas needs to do is get him someone who can compete for snaps, thus making the position — and the entire line as a whole stronger.

As many fans know however, Dallas won’t be placing a premium on this position as long as Rod Marinelli is their defensive coordinator. For some reason he thinks random players can fill this void, and so big name studs like Vita Vea won’t be an option. Instead, Dallas will look at guys beyond the first round, like possibly one of these five options.
