Led by the youngest head coach in NFL history, the Los Angeles Rams won the NFC West in 2017. But there are already major changes on the horizon.

What a transformation. And all done with the help of the youngest head coach in NFL history. The last time we has seen the franchise known as the Rams in the playoffs was 2004. The club was still based in the Gateway City and under the guidance of Mike Martz. The team finished 8-8 one year after winning the NFC West with a 12-4 record. Until this past season, that marked the last time the club managed a winning campaign.

That all changed in 2017, when second-year quarterback Jared Goff came of age, running back Todd Gurley led the league in total yards from scrimmage and Wade Phillips’ defensive unit played better after a slow start. It resulted in an 11-5 mark and the end of a long postseason drought.

However, there have already been big changes to the team. General manager Les Snead has been busy wheeling and dealing – parting ways with outside linebacker Robert Quinn and inside presence Alec Ogletree while trading for cornerbacks Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib (all of these deals become official on March 14 at 4:00 p.m. ET).

Is the team done making alterations? And if Snead and the Rams do dive deep into free agency, which direction may they be headed? Here are five suggestions that could go a long way to fixing some of the team’s issues while putting them in position to not only defend their NFC West crown but advance in the postseason.
