Draft a DT who can rush the passer

The Browns have tons of potential on the defensive side of the ball, with a defense that gave up just 3.4 yards per carry. If Jamie Collins can come back healthy, they’ll have a corps of linebackers that are the best in the league with Schobert and Kirksey, who put together stellar performances. However, now that big man Danny Shelton is gone, they are going to need to find a replacement.

Virginia Tech defensive tackleTim Settle should be a player the Browns target. The Browns need the type of tackle who fits Williams’ defense as a 3-technique who can play the run as well as he can play the pass.

The Hokies prospect lined up all over Bud Foster’s defense and should help generate a pass rush and collapse the pocket, something Danny Shelton struggled with. While there are prospects that technically grade out better than Settle, he’s a guy with Pro Bowl talent, at least according to NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein.

"“Settle is a disruptive, versatile defensive lineman who offers enough pass rush potential to warrant reps on passing downs. Settle is a natural 4-3 fit but can play in a 3-4 as well. He has the potential to become a very good starter with a Pro Bowl ceiling if he controls his weight and maintains his conditioning.”"

After their free agency signings and trades, it seems like their offense may finally catch up. Adding Jarvis Landry and Tyrod Taylor gives the Browns some wiggle that they must use to draft an offensive tackle no matter what. They’ll will unquestionably add a quarterback first overall and he’d be protected by a line and defense should he be thrust in the starting role earlier than expected.
