Free agents Ndamukong Suh and Tyrann Mathieu would enhance the Dallas Cowboys defense, but they’re most likely not going to move on either player

The Dallas Cowboys have been quiet in free agency, which isn’t all bad. During this first-wave, people are getting paid ridiculous money — like a player they lost in linebacker Anthony Hitchens and one they had interest in, wide receiver Sammy Watkins. Both are good players, but landed astronomical contracts with the Kansas City Chiefs, and are sure to be discussed in the future when the players aren’t living up to the lofty pay.

This doesn’t mean the guys in free agency are bad, just that they can be overpriced. Dallas wisely stays out of much of the bidding wars, but that doesn’t mean they always should shy away from paying for some potential game changers — especially when they are perfect fits.

Two such players have hit the market recently as both defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh and safety Tyrann Mathieu were released on Wednesday. Dallas could use both guys on a defense that’s solid, but limited on play makers.

As excited as fans would be to hear these guys will wear the star in 2018, expectations should be low, because the Boys won’t chase either.

Somewhere along the lines Dallas decided the only way to get free agents is to find lower level players like defensive end Benson Mayowa, running back Alfred Morris and linebacker Justin Durant. These are some of their more recent pickups where they hope to find inexpensive players and cross their fingers that they play beyond themselves.

Suh and Mathieu won’t come cheap like the players Dallas has recently targeted. Which also means the team won’t be bringing in any game changers unless someone lowers their price, or they hit a home run in the 2018 NFL Draft.
