The trade to acquire Tyrod Taylor is important in that it allows the Browns front office to pick the best quarterback, period. No concerns over who needs to sit or any other considerations. Simply, pick the best quarterback. That third round pick that went to the Buffalo Bills for Tyrod is priced in to the selection first overall. If the Browns pick the right quarterback, it’s worth the price and then some.

The acquisition of Tyrod doesn’t change the fact that Baker Mayfield is the best quarterback in the class. He’s still the most efficient quarterback in college football history. He still beat up on all levels of competition from every conference. Mayfield is also better on the road than he is at home.

Mayfield is fueled by doubt, criticism and contempt for his opponent. His teammates adore him, he puts all the pressure on himself and he’s exactly the type of player that can galvanize a team and a fanbase as they attempt to transition from dead last to contender.
