The Browns have done a lot to overhaul their secondary, but they should still be looking to add high end talent to the group. Even while adding three players to the defensive backfield in Damarious Randall, T.J. Carrie and Terrance Mitchell, they are only one year deals with team options, so if they are unhappy with any of them, they can simply release them and move on.

Carlton Davis’s agility data is currently unavailable, but his production and explosion are more than adequate to this point. And he has some similarities to Carrie. He tackles and he has a knack for knocking passes away from receivers.

One of the biggest issues the Browns had with their secondary last year was giving up underneath passes and being unable to secure the tackle to minimize the yards after the catch. Small plays would become chunk plays. Carrie and now Davis would be a major effort to deal with that problem.

Davis is a broadly built corner with long arms (32.75 inches) that makes him difficult to beat off the line in press, but also helps as a tackler. The rest of it is simply want to and Davis is by no means perfect, but he is aggressive and willing. Davis is also pliable and has the same knack that Joe Haden has when it comes to contorting his body around receivers to poke the ball away. He just seems to be a perfect fit for what the Browns want to do at corner.
