The Indianapolis Colts traded down in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft to acquire more capital, but what could they now do with the No. 6 pick?

Whenever the final order for the 2018 NFL Draft was set, there was one team at the top that stood out tremendously: the Indianapolis Colts. No one could deny the fact that they had a 2017 season to forget, thus earning them the third overall pick in the draft. However, the contrast of the Colts’ bad year to the teams around them was stark because of the simple fact that Andrew Luck is still on the payroll.

Luck’s mysterious shoulder injury has certainly been a nuisance for the Colts in recent years, most pressingly this past season where he missed the campaign in its entirety. However, he’s expected to return for the 2018 season, which was an interesting wrinkle for the 2018 NFL Draft.

While the Colts roster has numerous holes to be addressed, quarterback isn’t a need for them. As such, Indianapolis seemed like a prime candidate to trade down from the No. 3 pick with a team looking to move up and nab a quarterback. Ultimately, they ended up doing that soon after the start of free agency.

Trading with the New York Jets, who moved up to the third pick, the Colts moved down to the No. 6 overall pick while acquiring the Nos. 37 and 49 picks from New York in the process. It’s clear that general manager Chris Ballard wants to acquire more capital in this draft as opposed to possibly reaching for another player as teams vie for quarterbacks.

Now sitting with the sixth-overall pick. What are the options for the Indianapolis Colts? Let’s take a look at five targets for Ballard and the land of the Shoe come the night of April 26 and the 2018 NFL Draft.
