3. Bradley Chubb, EDGE, NC State

Prior to trading with the Jets and moving down to the No. 6 overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft, most prognostications and mock drafts had the Colts selecting edge rusher Bradley Chubb out of NC State with the third-overall pick. Many say that Chubb is the best overall prospect in the draft, or at least the second best behind the aforementioned Barkley.

However, what’s crazy about the trade for the Colts is that, despite moving down three spots in the first round as a result of the trade with New York, they could still ultimately be able to land Chubb and get their guy on the edge after all.

When you look at how the first round could shake out, there are viable possibilities that Chubb is still on the board after the first five selections are made — and it’s not just one specific path. The simple fact of the matter is that the Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, Jets and Denver Broncos could all be vying for a quarterback. What’s more, they could all take a swing at Barkley. And, what’s more, all but the Browns are in the running to take Quenton Nelson.

As a result, that leaves a path for Chubb to get to the sixth-overall pick and give the Colts a player they need. The NC State product isn’t an athletic freak in the mold of Myles Garrett, but he’s a monster in terms of his strength and has the quickness to get opposing linemen off balance right away to use his strength and win battles in the trenches quickly. Indianapolis could use that in a big way.
