The New York Jets got what they wanted when they traded for the No. 3 overall pick on Saturday. They’re in control of their 2018 NFL Draft destiny as much as they can be.

We are in for a lot of surprises in the 2018 NFL Draft. The New York Jets pulled off the first one 40 days before Roger Goodell calls the first draft pick to the podium. The overriding assumption is that the Jets will take a quarterback. However, we know what happens when we assume.

We shouldn’t assume anything. There are plenty of things that can go down before draft day that change our opinions. It is likely that they will take a quarterback, given the haul that they gave up. It’s a very Herschel Walker-like trade. Not quite to that level, but close.

The Jets gave up their first round selection and both second round picks in 2018 and their 2019 second-round pick. Quite a haul, and based on that package of picks, you’d think it’d be for one of the top quarterbacks. However, there’s still a chance it’s not.

So, let’s examine their options and see who fits into that No. 3 spot for the Jets and how many quarterbacks are options.
