Chicago Bears: 7-Round 2018 mock draft after free agency first wave

At the start of the NFL’s free agency, the Chicago Bears made a big splash. They were among the most active teams, completely revamping their offense. Those moves changed their draft priorities.

The Chicago Bears hit the initial wave of free agency hard. They had a plan on what they wanted and executed it very well.

That plan apparently revolved around second-year quarterback Mitch Trubisky. General manager Ryan Pace’s job is attached to how well Trubisky plays so he gave the youngster all he needed to succeed. He provided Trubisky with all types of weapons — big-bodied, speedy, and good hands receivers.

Pace’s targets were nearly all on offense (he did re-sign his starting cornerbacks and picked up pass rusher Aaron Lynch). With that being said, his focus on the draft changes. While many expected a wide receiver early, the chances of the Bears going for any receiver drops. Yes, the offensive line needs to be strengthened, but they need help at edge rusher and linebacker as well.

The difference now is that the Bears move from a position of strength. Many of their offensive holes are patched, so now Pace and company have an opportunity to strengthen a top-ten defense. The return of the Monsters of the Midway is imminent.
