Chicago Bears: 7-Round 2018 mock draft after free agency first wave
Okay, so I’m doing something not usually done. I’m drafting two players from the same school (North Carolina State Wolfpack). I know it’s usually not done but I feel these two players fill some of the Bears’ needs. The first from the Wolfpack to come is B.J. Hill.
HIll measures in at 6-4, 315 pounds. He could help on the line. Eddie Goldman is at the nose. While he’s doing a pretty good job, he’s had some injury problems. Hill can be an insurance policy in case of another injury. Also, splitting time between the two keeps both players fresh and keep the likelihood of injury at a minimum.
Hill is an athletic end with good quickness. He has good anticipation and can jump the snap. While Bradley Chubb got all the attention, Hill did work of his own. In his career, he recorded 183 tackles, 23.5 for loss. He also had eight sacks and one interception.
The defensive line is very important. The players on the front line need to consistently get into the backfield and put pressure on opposing quarterbacks. A fresh and healthy line can do that. Also, Akiem Hicks needs some help. He had a career year last season, but it could’ve been better. He took a lot of double teams and faded down the stretch. Hill took on a lot of double teams so if he needs attention, that bodes well for Hicks.
