While we cringe at some of the mistakes Charles Leno makes and constantly yell at Bobby Massie, they are here to stay for the foreseeable future. Additionally, Bears fans have such a disdain for the offensive line, but in actuality, even with all the injuries, the line wasn’t bad.

Pro Football Focus ranked the Bears’ offensive line 11th overall. Here is what they said (subscription required):

"On one hand, this unit was marred by injuries (Kyle Long) and sophomore slumps (Cody Whitehair), but on the other, there were a couple standout performances as well. Left tackle Charles Leno Jr. has developed into a solid player as he had his best season to date. He gave up just seven pressures over the last seven games of the year while he also had his best run-blocking season."

What the Bears need to do is to draft someone to add depth. That’s where Joseph Noteboom comes in. At 6-5, 320 pounds, Noteboom has the size and the long arms good enough for the NFL. He uses good technique and good hand use. Additionally, he has good balance. Also, while he has good bulk, he has room to add even more.

The problems scouts have with Noteboom is some of his inconsistency. However, that could be because of coaching. A lot of teams in college just do what they can to increase wins without actually coaching up players for the next step up.

This is evident with the fact that Noteboom did well during Senior Bowl week. Noteboom can perform well in a reserve role. As he gains more experience he has a chance to be a starter down the road.
