Los Angeles Rams: 7-Round 2018 mock draft after free agency first wave
After bringing center John Sullivan back into the fold, the Rams’ offensive line is pretty set for 2018. Left tackle Andrew Whitworth really helped solidify the entire unit last season, as they protected Jared Goff well and opened up holes for Todd Gurley in the run game.
While offensive line is certainly not a major need, Whitworth is getting up there in age. The Rams are not going to be able to count on him as their franchise left tackle for much longer. With that in mind, finding a developmental offensive tackle in this draft would be ideal.
Geron Christian is a long and athletic offensive tackle prospect who has a lot of upside as a pass protector at the next level. He lacks ideal power at the point of attack, but Christian moves well and should be able to protect the quarterback well if he can improve his footwork a bit. He is the perfect development tackle for the Rams to take a chance on in the middle of this draft.
With both Tyrunn Walker and Tanzel Smart leaving plenty to be desired, the Rams struggled find a consistent option at the nose tackle position last season. Even if the Rams end up adding a free agent, it seems like an obvious position for them to address in the draft.
Kendrick Norton is a big and powerful player who can certainly hold his own at the point of attack. He is a traditional space eater can be a strong run defender at the next level. While his pass rush upside is lacking, he does have a quick first step and consistently works hard to reach the quarterback.
Norton is not going to become a star defensive lineman at the next level, but he is a talented guy who is a fair bet to be a productive player at a position of need for the Rams.
