Man, that’s a long time to wait to address the Eagles’ top concern. And while Geron Christian is a good value in the fourth round (could go earlier), I’m not sure he’s the answer Philadelphia needed at offensive tackle. Still, he should be the best option available, which makes him the pick at No. 130.

With Jason Peters rehabbing from a torn ACL and MCL, the Eagles need reinforcements at offensive tackle. That’s not to say Halapoulivaati Vaitai can’t hold his own on the blindside, but Philadelphia may want a backup plan. Although Christian isn’t an elite talent by any stretch of the imagination, he’s got the goods to see snaps as a rookie if needed.

The former Louisville left tackle has plenty of experience. Coming into the league, he’s got 38 college starts under his belt, and has seen time at both tackle positions. Although that flip-flopping hindered him at times, it should give him the versatility needed to make an early impact in the NFL.

At worst, Christian has the makings of a solid swing tackle. He’ll never be a star in this league, but the experience, strength and work ethic he brings with him should be more than enough to keep him employed for at least a few years.
