Over the last couple of seasons, the Eagles have been compiling an exciting group of young, high-upside cornerbacks. While they appear to have more than enough depth at the position, they can easily afford to splurge on another cover man with an appealing set of tools to work with.

In this case, I’m referring to Quenton Meeks, a three-year starter out of Stanford. With an intriguing mix of size, toughness and instincts, he seems like the perfect depth piece who could develop into a starter over time.

Plus, with the Eagles’ current situation at cornerback, more capable contributors wouldn’t hurt. Sidney Jones saw action in only one game as a rookie after recovering from an Achilles tear, and the loss of Patrick Robinson leaves a vacancy in the slot. Meeks has the experience and talent to compete with players like Jones and Rasul Douglas for snaps right out of the gate.

Meeks is still a work in progress in coverage, but is an excellent run defender. If he can use his length to shine early during training camp, I could see the former Cardinal working his way into a significant role to kick off his rookie campaign.
