Can you ever really have too many quality offensive linemen on one team? Especially with Wentz coming off a torn ACL, it’s going to be imperative for the Eagles to ensure his safety heading into 2018. So they spend one more pick on the front five before the 2018 NFL Draft is in the books.

In Skyler Phillips, they’d be getting a mauling, physical presence along the interior who has flashed NFL-caliber athleticism and size. That’s all the more impressive when you consider Phillips did his work at Idaho State, an FCS program not exactly known for producing pro-level talent.

What really began to turn scouts’ heads, though, was Phillips’ performance during the Senior Bowl. Despite hailing for a small school, he shined against top competition, standing out during practices and the game due to his strength, aggressiveness and movement skills for a 6-2, 318-pound prospect. There are concerns about his height, though, which should limit him to either guard or center.

Either way, the talent is clearly there for him to make an impact at the next level. If the Eagles are looking for some mid-round options to shore up their depth at guard, they need look no further than Phillips here in the fifth round.
