The Jets have their guy to replace Muhammad Wilkerson. He will have to move from defensive end to the inside in the Jets scheme, though.

To play inside where the Jets need him will require Street to add some weight (currently 280 pounds). However, he can and will, because they need him on the inside. He’s not as athletic as Muhammad Wilkerson, but that’s ok. He won’t be asked to be a dominant pass rusher. His role will be simple. Stop or limit the running game.

His game is predicated on strength and toughness. The Jets need more of that inside presence in their run defense. Street will be able to match power with NFL guards, and even though his athleticism is limited, his move inside will allow him to use his limited athleticism against guards and get to the quarterback occasionally.

In the Jets scheme the edge presence comes from the outside linebackers. If the Jets edge rushers can do their jobs, Street will be able to get to the quarterback more often too, using his power. That makes Street a valuable commodity in the seventh round, and the Jets will get a lot of value here.
