This offseason, the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles have been busy revamping their defensive front. That talented and deep unit was one of the big reasons the franchise captured its first NFL championship since 1960.

But it doesn’t take long for things to change in this league. Starting defensive end Vinny Curry was cut loose after the team failed to find a trade partner. The Birds made a deal for Michael Bennett — late of the Seattle Seahawks — and signed veteran defensive tackle Haloti Ngata. The 12-year pro spent the last three seasons with the Detroit Lions.

Defensive tackle Beau Allen was part of that defensive rotation in the City of Brotherly Love. But this offseason, the numerous changes enabled the four-year pro to pursue other opportunities. In the early days of free agency, he inked a three-year, $15 million deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (terms via Spotrac).

Teamed inside with perennial Pro Bowler Gerald McCoy, the 2014 seventh-round choice from the University of Wisconsin. In four years in Philadelphia, Allen missed only one game and made a total of just eight starts. That figures to change as the 6-3, 333-pound stopper hopes to help a Tampa defense that finished in the bottom third of the league in run defense in 2017.
