The 2018 NFL Draft will be very interesting for the Dallas Cowboys, as they have 10 selections to improve their roster. A 7-round mock draft for Big D.

What are the Dallas Cowboys going to do with Dez Bryant at wide receiver this offseason? Are they ever going to sign a free agent and become active in the second week of free agency? Will the Cowboys just wait to see who is available at the 2018 NFL Draft and draft the best available players?

However the Cowboys decide to tackle the rest of the offseason, one thing is certain … they have 10 draft picks at their disposal, and some new players will be added to the roster with those selections.

Some feel the Cowboys need to draft a wide receiver with their first-round pick at 19th overall, but the last time the Cowboys selected a wide receiver within the first two rounds of an NFL Draft was in 2010 when they selected Dez Bryant in the first round. Before that, you will have to go all the way back to 2002 when Antonio Bryant was selected in the second round.

That said, don’t expect the Cowboys to jump at a wide receiver in the early rounds of the draft, as history will tell you they haven’t done that during the Jerry Jones era but a total of six times: Alexander Wright (1990), Alvin Harper (1991), Jimmy Smith (1992), Kevin Williams (1993), Antonio Bryant (2002) and Dez Bryant (2010).

The Cowboys have been fond of selecting defense and offensive line in recent drafts (except for 2015, when they selected running back Ezekiel Elliott), and for good reason, as the selections have become mainstays on the roster.

There are varying paths the Cowboys could travel in this upcoming NFL Draft, and one way that could be this season is another year of focus on the defensive side of the ball as the rebuild of the defense continues to become a completed plan.

Whatever the Cowboys decide, the team can ill afford not to build solid depth and even in some cases draft a potential Day 1 starter, as the team will need some players to contribute from the start. Listed are 10 possible choices for a 7-round Dallas Cowboys Mock Draft.
