Round 3: DaeSean Hamilton, WR, Penn State

The third round with the 81st overall selection is a good spot for the Dallas Cowboys to add to their wide receivers and get a player who can help on Day 1 on the depth chart. That player could be Penn State’s DaeSean Hamilton, a player who WalterFootball.com has listed as the 10th best receiver in the 2018 NFL Draft and a player who is projected to be selected anywhere from the third round to the fifth round.

Hamilton will most likely be available on the second day of the draft, and according to WalterFootball.com, Hamilton is ready for the NFL right now as they stated:

"“He is a smooth, polished receiver who could contribute quickly in the NFL.”"

That is the type of wide receiver the Cowboys could use right now, especially with the Cowboys still being uncertain on the future of Dez Bryant, plus having the inconsistencies of Terrance Williams and Brice Butler still on the roster, too.

As a senior, Hamilton played in 13 games, and in those appearances he totaled 53 receptions for 857 yards and nine touchdowns. He also averaged a career-high 16.2 yards per reception. His three best games came against two Big Ten schools and in the Fiesta Bowl against Washington, where he totaled five receptions for 110 yards and two touchdowns. He had five games this season with at least five receptions per game.

The Cowboys seem to be happy with placing Ryan Switzer at the slot wide receiver spot, but on the outside receiver spot, changes either need to be made or at the very least some new players need to be added. This round is a good spot for that to occur.
