Round 4: Sean Welsh, OG, Iowa

The Dallas Cowboys need to find themselves a left guard for the 2018 season, as they currently have Jonathan Cooper and Kadeem Edwards on their depth chart. Last year, the guard position wasn’t the best for the Cowboys, and looking to the draft might be the way to go for the franchise.

This brings Sean Welsh to the table with the 116th overall pick, and he could be a player the Cowboys could use from the very start of his career as he’d be surrounded by some high-quality offensive linemen to help progress the learning curve, so to speak. Welsh is 6-2, 296 pounds, and though he has some issues with his abilities, he still possess the talent to play in the NFL.

Lance Zierlein of NFL.com said the following about Welsh:

"“Welsh has decent talent, but below average physical traits which could force him into a purgatory between starter and backup.”"

That says a lot about the offensive guard, but even if he could go either way, at the worst the Cowboys would have depth at guard, which is needed as well. With the talent Welsh would have around him, he could learn from some of the very best in the league at how to become a better player, which for a potential fourth- to fifth-round selection would be an excellent steal for the Cowboys as well.
