New York Jets: Pros and cons of signing Ndamukong Suh

Should the New York Jets sign free agent defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh? That depends on which version of the player they get.

Based on reports from multiple sources, including Pro Football Talk, the New York Jets have offered the highest contract to free agent defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. Suh is a talented player, and well worth the Jets time to consider.

He still can bring his A-game, and that’s better than most. However, he comes with a lot of baggage.

Pros for the signing

From a talent perspective, Suh is the perfect signing for the Jets. Despite down year statistically (4.5 sacks), he would open so much for the defense. He would command double-teams, and that would open things up for Leonard Williams and the pass rushers on the second level.

This would also open things up for the run defense. The double-teams would also open things up for the inside linebackers to get to the runners. Suh had nine tackles for loss in 2017. So, he’s still a viable run stopper as well.

All in all, his talent is worth the look the Jets are giving him. What about the baggage though? he does come with a lot. So, let’s examine that.
