Signing Sylvester Williams and bringing back Ezekiel Ansah certainly helps, but the Detroit Lions have needs across the defensive line. In particular, they could use a three-technique who can penetrate as both a run defender and pass rusher.

In the second round of this mock draft, the Lions select Florida defensive tackle Taven Bryan who would fit their needs perfectly.

Bryan is an extremely explosive and athletic player at the defensive tackle position. He consistently fires off of the ball quickly, allowing him to penetrate and make plays in the backfield against the run and in the pass rush.

Bryan is a raw prospect who needs to work on his technique in order to reach his upside at the next level. He got by almost exclusively on his athleticism in college and that will not work in the NFL. His combination of speed, athleticism and power is fantastic, but Bryan must learn to use his skills efficiently in order to reach his massive upside.

Simply put, the Detroit Lions have an obvious need for a penetrating defensive tackle and Bryan is one of the best in this draft class. He is not a perfect prospect, but Bryan has a ton of natural ability that should translate well to the next level.
