The New York Giants were limited in free agency. So, David Gettleman has to hit a few home runs in the 2018 NFL Draft.

As NFL Spin Zone’s Zac Wassink pointed out, the New York Giants appear to be in win-now mode. The draft should bear that out too. The Giants have a few holes to fill in order to contend for the playoffs in 2018, and as we all know, once you get in, anyone has a chance.

Say what you will about the quarterback position, but it’s clear they’re at least committed to Eli Manning for 2018, and possibly 2019. So, they may pass on a quarterback in the first round. Then again, they may go quarterback, so he’s prepared to take over for Manning when he hangs up the cleats.

If they are in win-now mode, they need to build a team that can contend for a Super Bowl in the next two years, unless they envision extending Manning after his current contract is up. They have needs on defense in the back seven, on the line, and in the backfield to help Manning get a third Lombardi trophy and enter the pantheon of all-time great quarterbacks.

Let’s see who they get to help him.
