The Giants signed Jonathan Stewart, but that’s not enough. The Giants need a feature back in their backfield, a go-to guy to take pressure off Eli Manning.

Early on in his college career, Jones was more an elusive back who could make guys miss with athleticism. However, in 2017, he added a little power to his game. Now that he’s added power to his game, he’s going to move up some draft boards.

Some people will question his ability to take on a huge workload in the NFL. He did go from 153 carries to 177 to 261, though. So, he’s taken on more of a workload. Jones also had limited usage in the pass catching game, but he was successful when he did, so he’s capable of staying on the field on third down when they need a pass-catching back.

Jones also has solid hands. He only fumbled twice in his 591 career carries. He’s a willing and decent pass blocker also. Jones is capable of making big plays in all situations. So, he’s a value pick for the Giants at the top of the second round. The combination of Jones and Stewart could become a dangerous one as the season roles on into January.
