While I wouldn’t call the unit great, the Chicago Bears have some nice pieces on the offensive line. Between Kyle Long, Cody Whitehair and Charles Leno, the Bears do have three core pieces up front. However, they could certainly use an upgrade over Bobby Massie at right tackle and one offensive guard spot is wide open. In the second round, the Bears fill that open guard spot with a bullet by selecting Will Hernandez.

Hernandez is a big and powerful offensive lineman who absolutely dominates at the point of attack. A huge majority of the time, once Hernandez engages, the play is over for the opposing defensive player. His physical and powerful style is completely overwhelming in the run game. Simply put, this guy is a road grader.

While his power and strength are painfully obvious, Hernandez also moves well for a man of his size. He shows impressive quickness off the snap and great overall footwork. Hernandez shows enough movement ability to reach the second level with ease and make consistent reach blocks in the run game. His quick feet also come in handy in pass protection where Hernandez shows a strong overall ability to mirror opposing rushers.

Simply put, Hernandez is an elite run blocker who also protects the quarterback well. If the Bears can snag him with their second round pick, they could immediately plug him in at left guard and reap the benefits of a high-level player.
