3. Potential for a breakout season

The Dallas Cowboys last year didn’t have any wide receiver catch for over 1,000 yards in 2017, with Dez Bryant leading the way with 838 yards on 69 receptions. Bryant also led the Cowboys with six receiving touchdowns.

Hurns didn’t have the best of seasons last year with Blake Bortles as his starting quarterback in Jacksonville, where he totaled 39 receptions for 484 yards and two touchdowns. Hurns was targeted 56 times in 2017. Also last season, he had four receptions of 20-plus yards and 162 yards after catch. Of his 39 receptions, 28 went for a first down.

That brings us to the word “potential” with Hurns, because when healthy, he can bring a lot to the Cowboys offense with Dak Prescott as his quarterback.

Look no further than 2015 with Jacksonville, where in 15 games he had 64 receptions for 1,031 yards, averaging 16.1 yards per reception. That season, he had the help of Allen Robinson on the other side of the field with him, and that could be replicated with the likes of Bryant on the other side if the Cowboys decide to keep Bryant on the roster for the upcoming season.
