New York Jets: 7-Round 2018 mock draft at end of March
The Jets want to be aggressive up front, and in order to do that they need to be able to cover. Greg Stroman can give them that cover corner they need in their scheme, but that’s all he can give on defense.
He’s probably going to have trouble with tackling, especially in the running game, because of his frame. He’s skinny, but boy can he cover. It doesn’t matter the size, speed, or if the receiver has a good combination of the two. Stroman has shown he can cover them all.
He has the production to back this up as well. He had 26 career passes defended and nine interceptions, with one returned for a touchdown. The addition of Stroman also continues the them of the third round of guys who can do multiple things.
Stroman can return both punts and kickoffs. He’s returned 23 kickoffs for an average of 20.8 yards per return with the Hokies. As for punt returns, he set career highs in yards (397), yards per return (11.3) and touchdowns (2) in 2017. He’s had four touchdowns in his career. He can do exactly what the Jets need on defense and fill the return hole on special teams. He’s a perfect value pick in the sixth round.
