The Dallas Cowboys got a lot of praise for landing wide receiver Allen Hurns in free agency, they will get more if they target linebacker NaVorro Bowman
After being incredibly quiet during Week 1 of NFL Free Agency, the Dallas Cowboys quieted a lot of critics by landing former Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Allen Hurns. Now they need to go for another big move and target middle linebacker NaVorro Bowman.
The veteran linebacker is a free agent for the second time in less than a year as he was cut by San Francisco in October. The Cowboys were in need of some help at the position and lined up a visit with Bowman.
He never made it though as a trip to Oakland ended with a contract to finish the season with the Raiders. Bowman learned their defense in a week and was nothing short of impressive during the 10 games he played in Oakland.
He had 89 tackles, 1.5 sacks and an interception. Bowman showed that his age isn’t an issue and Dallas would do themselves a huge favor to call and see if there may still be some mutual interest, especially considering they lost Anthony Hitchens in free agency to the Chiefs.
Currently, the Cowboys are likely to start Jaylon Smith at middle linebacker with Sean Lee on the weak side and possible Damien Wilson strong. With Smith’s limited experience and uncertain future as he continues to recover from his horrific knee injury suffered in college, it may be best for him to slide over to Wilson’s spot and allow Bowman to man the middle — a position he’s dominated for years.

Not only does the move make sense, but it should be affordable. Bowman hasn’t generated much interest besides from Oakland, so Dallas could do what they love — and find themselves a deal.
