The New York Jets have had a good offseason fortifying some positions, but it’s not over. They still have huge holes to fill.

When the 2017 season ended for the New York Jets, we all knew they were a long way away from being contenders for the Lombardi Trophy. However, with all the cap space they had, they had to be active in free agency, and they were.

They landed free agents Trumaine Johnson, Isaiah Crowell, Teddy Bridgewater, Avery Williamson, Spencer Long and Terrelle Pryor. Meanwhile, the Jets also re-signed Morris Claiborne and Josh McCown. This team still has some work to do to just make the playoffs, though.

Here’s what they need.

Defensive interior

The Jets cut Muhammad Wilkerson, which left a hole on their defensive line. They have a decent defensive line right now, but could use some help. They need guys who can set up their edge rushers for sacks, which they did do well last year.

Edge rusher

At the end of the season in 2017, the Jets got the CBS broadcast team of Tony Romo and Jim Nantz in the booth a few times, and Romo pointed out a key factor in the Jets defense. The front three of the Jets were doing there jobs, but frequently the edge rushers weren’t creating pressure like the defense is designed to do. They need to get their guy who can create pressure on opposing quarterbacks and wreak havoc.

Franchise quarterback

The Jets have spent decades searching for the man at quarterback. They’ve seen the likes of Dan Marino and Tom Brady succeed elsewhere, and it left the fans wondering what if. Now the Jets have a top-three pick, and the right draft to have one.

They could have their choice of four guys, but more likely will choose from three. With the recent moves made by the Giants, they could land Josh Rosen. If they do, they have the franchise guy they’ve been waiting for.
