Los Angeles Rams: 7-Round 2018 mock draft for early April
The Los Angeles Rams have a lack of impact talent and depth at the inside linebacker position. Showing impressive speed and athleticism, Christian Sam is an intriguing linebacker prospect who has a ton of upside at the next level. A sideline-to-sideline defender who shows nice natural coverage instincts, Sam could grow into a real defensive asset for the Rams. At worst, he would be a fantastic addition to their special teams units.
Jake Wieneke lacks ideal speed and quickness for an NFL receiver. He is not going to be able to create consistent separation at the next level and that may end up killing him. That being said, at 6-4, 213 pounds, Weineke has an impressive catch radius and catches anything that he can get his hands on.
Weineke is never going to be a player who will stretch the field, but he can go up and get the ball with the best of them. He will be a true red zone weapon at the next level and could be an important addition to the Rams offense.
In Aaron Donald, Ndamukong Suh, Michael Brockers, Ethan Westbrooks and Dominique Easley, the Los Angeles Rams have arguably the best mix of defensive linemen in the entire NFL. Armed with incredible talent and depth up front, the Rams do not have any sort of defensive line need.
That being said, at this point in the draft, it is all about finding valuable players who could become contributors at the next level. Justin Jones would have a difficult time breaking the Rams’ depth chart, but he is a powerful defensive lineman who shows an impressive overall skill set. Jones is strong at the point of attack and has a bit of quickness and athleticism to his game as an interior penetrator.

Despite the obvious depth up front, Jones is a talented player who could contribute to the Rams’ defensive line in the near future. Simply put, he is a strong value in this range and is worth taking a chance on with the final pick in this mock draft.
