The New York Giants appear to be in win-now mode. That means they will have to hit on this draft and get the necessary pieces around Eli Manning to help him lead this team to another Lombardi Trophy.

Dave Gettleman was hired by the New York Giants to be the new general manager for two reasons. It was time for a change at the top, and the Giants believe they can win now. Gettleman also has the tough task of winning now while also building toward the future.

The Giants are in a rare situation for them. In the common draft era, the Giants have only picked in the top-five 12 times and in the top two on four occasions. So, this is rarefied air for them, and a spot they don’t want to be in again.

The New York Giants have always won Super Bowls on the backs of their defense and running game. So, James Bettcher has a tall order in front of him. If the Gettleman can hel pp build this defense, the Giants could be on their way to a fifth Super Bowl championship and ninth overall world championship (which would tie the Bears for second all-time).

Let’s see how Gettleman puts the pieces around Manning for one more run at a world title.
