They say numbers never lie. However, in some cases they do. Take Washington wide receiver Dante Pettis as an example. When you look at his 2016 production, it’s spectacular. He averaged over 15 yards per catch and had 15 touchdowns.

In 2017, however, his yards, yards per catch and touchdowns all went down. He no longer had NFL Combine sensation John Ross on the other side to take attention away. So, his production is going to go down, because he’s not a No. 1 receiver.

The Giants don’t need a No. 1 receiver, though. So, Pettis is a perfect addition. His production and talent as a No. 2 guy shows what he can be when the attention is paid to Odell Beckham Jr. He has good hands, knows the entire route tree, and is explosive. Like OBJ, he can be moved to the inside as well, giving you a valuable weapon on the inside next to OBJ.

In addition to his skills as a wide receiver, he has added value as a punt returner. He improved from year to year in that area, setting career highs in all major statistical categories in 2017. he gives the Giants a weapon that can score in multiple roles. So, he’s a value pick here.
