The New York Jets need help on the defensive front after the release of Muhammad Wilkerson, and Kentavius Street is the guy they should target.
In 2015, when Muhammad Wilkerson finished the season with 12 sacks, fans of the New York Jets thought it would be a sign of things to come. However, it turned out to be an aberration. A combination of scheme and a lack of desire from Wilkerson led to him not reaching the somewhat unrealistic expectations of the fans and media. That’s where Kentavius Street comes in.
Street isn’t a pass rusher by any stretch of the imagination. He can get to the quarterback, but he’s more of a power rushing run stuffer than a pass rusher. That’s okay, because that’s what the Jets need from their defensive “ends” (end in name and position only).
He’s a strong man. His 28 reps on the bench press at the NFL Combine were tied for 10th among defensive linemen, and tied for 15th among guys who will make their living in the trenches on either side of the ball.
Street weighed in at 280 pounds at the Combine. The Jets are going to ask him to move inside on their line. So, he will have to add weight.
The addition of Street to this line would bring the Jets an immediate upgrade. With a tandem of Street and Leonard Williams, the Jets will be a difficult team to run on, and they can help aid the inside linebackers in their pursuit of the runner. Street’s strength and the athleticism of Williams will also open things up for the edge rusher, and they’ll have to get home more often than they did in 2017.

The combination of run stopping ability and the occasional ability to get to the quarterback makes Street the perfect addition for the Jets defensive front. He’s exactly what the Jets need.
